“Media to Movements” Initiative Grows Among Turks
The Bible Correspondence Course that has reached many Turks in Turkey is now calling Turks in North America.
Emir and Kate started their work in central Turkey. After they married, God called them to start a new church that would multiply believers by following up with Turks who requested Bibles.
They found that only one in 20 contacts answered phone calls, but half of the contacts responded to text messages about meeting in-person to study God’s Word. Over the next seven years, 60 Turks left Islam to embrace the Gospel.
Eventually, the Turkish government forced Emir, Kate and their children to leave their homes, along with other foreign workers. Now, they serve God in Metro New York City—home to about 75,000 Turks—through an initiative called “Media to Movements,” which trains disciples in various media strategies.
Emir and Kate hope the Holy Spirit moves in power to convict the hearts of unbelieving Turks in North America, where they do not face the stiff persecution for converting to Christianity that believers back home experience.
Even though Turks have more access to the Good News in North America, few Christians reach out to them. But Emir and Kate remain dedicated and hopeful.
Ask God to help more laborers find Turks ready to receive the Gospel and share it with their neighbors (Ezekiel 36:26).
- Pray that spiritual strongholds that keep Turks from the faith will crumble and for protection of laborers from enemy attacks (2 Cor. 10:4-5).
- Pray for the laborers and Turkish believers of Metro NYC to share God’s Word in boldness (Ephesians 6:19-20).
